ADHD Truths

Image
You've seen the posts online about how ADHD is a made up diagnosis and our kids just need extra recess. I used to think there was a speck of truth there, until I had a child with ADHD. I can't stay silent anymore while people post such garbage. I'm gonna share some of our story and address a few thoughts that are roaming around the internet. My son didn't really start speaking until he was two and half. Since then he has talked a mile a minute. His brain is always going. He's contemplating his next thought before he finishes the one he's on. When he was in preschool I used to go out on the porch and cry after he went to bed because my mind was utterly exhausted from his non-stop talking. My son has always been sweet and polite, the kind of kid everybody likes. Shortly after he started Kindergarten his teacher recommended him for the gifted program. His standardized test scores were exceptional. All of his grades were great, except for his citizenship. He

Alkalime

Alkalime is advertised as a formula to support optimal Ph balance. It does so much more than that though. Initially it was given to my husband by a friend for its intended use. He figured out quickly that it helped in other areas as well. For the last several years my husband has gotten dehydrated easily, especially during the summer. Dehydration leads to muscle cramps and other issues. Ain't nobody got time for that! In the first couple of days he noticed that he wasn't getting dehydrated despite the constant sweating we deal with in Florida. He read the back of the bottle and said, "it must be the cell salts." Curbing the dehydration made him feel so much better that he kept using it daily. I looked up cell salts and found they are actually good for all kinds of things. Cell salts stimulate the body's natural healing mechanisms to satisfy mineral imbalances. They were developed by Dr. Schuessler's in the 1800's after studying the ash residue of human

Lately I have been working on a project that I wanted to tell you about. I've been printing photos and putting them in albums for the kids. I started on it ages ago and then fell behind. The importance of it has been weighing on me, so I moved it up my priority list. When I met my husband he had three kids who lived in another state. After their summer visits he would always have the photos printed so he could make an album for himself and send one home with them of their adventures. I continued the tradition with them. When Monkey got old enough to look through them he wanted to know where his pictures were. I made a small album of his baby and toddler pics with the intention of continuing to print and add them as he got older. Life got in the way and I never did. You know it's great that everyone has a camera in their pocket, but it's awful that the pictures all get lost on this SD card or that. If you really think about it, your kids have never even seen mo

Homeostasis

Essential oils have 2 jobs in the body. They destroy synthetics and regulate us back to homeostasis. Homeostasis is the ability to maintain a relatively stable internal state that persists despite changes in the world outside. Optimum homeostasis involves healthy heart rate, blood pressure, body temp, fluid and electrolyte balance, appetite, glandular secretions, production of hormones, and sleep cycles. It also keeps your inflammatory system in balance. Essential oils are compatible with human proteins and are similar in chemical structure to human cells. The components have a variety of effects to help your body reach the goal of homeostasis. Each person's body chemistry is different. That's why some oils work better on some people but not on others. Have you ever heard someone say that an oil didn't work for them? What they really mean is that the oil didn't produce the specific effect they were looking for. What it did do was work towards homeostasis in the bo

One Woman's Rat Infestation.....

My husband has a new hobby. He takes cheap and discarded ride on toys and refurbishes them. Not only does he make them look new, but he also adds more battery power to make them faster. The boys are loving it! Apparently my sweet husband is not the first to have this idea. He started with two Power Wheels he purchased together for almost nothing. They were raggedy, and the batteries didn't work. While he looked for parts online he found that there are whole Facebook groups dedicated to this craft. There's an underground community of pimped out racing ride ons. It's both amusing and hilarious. Our older son is almost 11 and doesn't fit well on the smaller vehicles, so we had been on the lookout for a larger one for him. When Jason saw a large 4 wheeler for $30 he pounced on the opportunity. The woman selling it messaged us back while we were in Walmart. We responded that we were on the way. We picked up our last couple of items and headed out. It took us 45 min
